Clinical care and performing arts – two vastly different disciplines. What are the success factors and challenges of collaboration between professionals of arts and care? How can music uplift the mood, how does it stimulate the brain to age more healthily, and how does it affect our emotional memory? During the show, approaches to person-centred music-making are demonstrated in interaction with the audience.

Krista de Wit is a senior researcher in the field of music in healthcare at the research group Music in Context of Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen. She works at the Prince Claus Conservatoire as a researcher and as an educator. She also works as a professional violinist for the Foundation MiMiC Music, which provides participatory music projects in different healthcare contexts. Krista’s PhD-research (2016-2020) into the experiential workplace learning of healthcare professionals through live music sessions received the Herta & Kurt Blaukopf Award at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna in 2022. Krista is a member of the global Musical Care network, as well as the local Arts in Health Groningen network.
