22:00 Controlling Machines with your Brain: Futuristic Cyborgs and Crucial Medical Devices

29 september 2023

Science fiction writers have been dreaming of connecting wires to the human brain to control robotic bodies, octopus arms, and to communicate and interact with the outside world without depending on the human body. Today we are making big leaps in actually achieving this with Brain-Computer Interfaces. This is not only for futuristic sci-fi dreams, but also for serious medical conditions. Fully paralyzed people who have lost almost all of their muscle control can use this technology as a means to communicate and interact with the outside world. Advances in AI, neuroscience and sensor technology may help bring this system closer to sci-fi level medical devices.
